Blast-Off Dose vs. Low Dose Psychedelics for Trauma Healing
Discussing the most appropriate approach for effective healing.
Blast-off doses of Kambo and psychedelics are not always the answer for trauma healing.
Here’s why…
Trauma can be defined as anything that is too much, too fast, or too soon for the mind and body to process.
It isn’t the actual event itself; it’s your mental, emotional, and physical response to that event, which then becomes stored in the body.
We live in a society that is plagued with beliefs such as:
Go hard or go home.
You have to push beyond your limits.
Do more, be more.
Faster, stronger, better.
This has left people cutting corners in their healing journeys and bypassing their humanness in exchange for the quick fixes and fast results offered by self-proclaimed Shamans and Healers.
But this isn’t true healing.
Your trauma needs you to work slowly so you can move through and release your stuck trauma responses.
This happens through deeply intentional work that requires a level of awareness that isn’t always offered through blast-off psychedelic journeys or difficult physical experiences that push or force your mind and body beyond where they are ready to go.
With psychedelic use increasing, substances like Ayahuasca, MDMA, and Bufo are being promoted as remedies for trauma healing. However, many people are finding that after their psychedelic experiences, they feel more fragmented and traumatized than ever before.
WHY?
Because the actual psychedelic blast-off experience is too much, too fast, or too soon for the mind and body to process.
Instead of having a healing effect, the experience triggers the nervous system into a trauma response, which can reactivate old trauma and potentially create new trauma.
This can also happen with large doses of non-psychedelic medicines such as Kambo (too much, too fast, too soon.)
With that said, psychedelics and Kambo can be pivotal tools for trauma healing when served in smaller doses, allowing the mind & body to process old trauma without creating new trauma.
An ego-driven facilitator focuses more on the blast-off experience because of the sense of perceived power they feel. They use unnecessary force to “heal their clients,” yet that very force pushes their clients beyond where their minds and bodies are ready to go.
It’s also important to understand that many facilitators are specifically trained to offer only blast-off doses. They have little to no experience working with smaller doses and often perceive them as less effective.
This is why it’s important to work with trauma-informed facilitators who aren’t led by their egos—facilitators who prioritize your safety and healing, and offer a slower approach that your nervous system will appreciate.
The most important thing to realize is that this work should not be approached in a one-size-fits-all fashion. Facilitators need to view their clients as individuals, taking into account their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, medical history, and trauma history.
When working with psychedelics such as Ayahuasca, MDMA, and Bufo, or other indigenous medicines such as Kambo for trauma healing, LESS IS MORE.
Blasting your mind and body into psychedelic realms and physical ordeal is not the answer.
Trauma doesn’t heal through force.
When it comes to healing trauma with psychedelics and Kambo, it’s always best to use a low and slow approach.
